Quote from Al-Ghazali
Al-Ghazali
text by Muhammad Hozien and Gray Henry, illustrated by Demi

Almost a thousand years ago, in
the year 1058, Muhammad ibn
Muhammad al-Ghazali was born
in Tus, Khurasan (present-day Iran).
He came to be known as
Imam al-Ghazali and as Hujjat
al-Islam, the "Proof of Islam."
He had a brother, Ahmad, who was
two years younger.
Muhammad's father was a
humble weaver who earner a
meager living. He had a great
heart and often listened to the
imams teach law and spiritual
wisdom in the mosques. When
he sat with the imams who
taught law, he prayed that God
would grant him eloquence and
intelligence. . .
So begins a deep and beautifully illustrated biography of al-Ghazali. Covering his early studies, teaching career, his growing concern for his own heart, and his path to find and study with the Sufis.
