Meeting Jesus Again for the First Time

Meeting Jesus Again for the First Time: The Historical Jesus and the Heart of Contemporary Faith

by Marcus J. Borg

HarperCollins, San Francisco, California, 1994    160 pp.

The question of the true nature of Jesus has come to the forefront in the contemporary Christian church, spurred in part by a generation that has found the church’s teachings inadequate and lifeless.

Marcus Borg is a scholar in that generation and has found a path between secular scholarship and Christian life in which to address these issues. Joining with other scholars to evaluate the credibility of Jesus’ quoted teachings in the New Testament, he has gone on to report their findings and implications for those touched by the Christian world. This book provides history, insights and implications in an accessible form, and is an interesting read for anyone with curiosity in this direction.
