This DVD (#998) is a recorded talk given by Advaita spiritual teacher, Isaac Shapiro, at the 2002 International Conference on Altered States of Consciousness. He has a pragmatic presentation style and engaged the audience with Q & A's after his talk, including inviting audience members to join him on stage if they desired. Here are a few examples of the wisdom he shared.

On blame: If we blame others for being unhappy, we give to someone else control over our own happiness. He asked whether anyone has ever been able to control someone else?  No . . . but we sure try a lot.

On body-mind distress: The same thing that troubles you . . . when truly present to it . . . is the way home. It is home. There's nothing there, just an ever-changing sensation. Can one change something that's already ever-changing?

On ignorance: There's a cost to thinking we know how it should be, when we decide this moment isn't "as God as it gets." It's called arrogance, or ignorance. Anytime we don't think what's going on is perfect as it is, that's what one is doing - being arrogant, ignorant.

This was not a long presentation, but it included some definite pearls worth pondering.
